Video: Kimani Ichung’wah Responds to Allegations About His Identity, Clarifies His Birthplace
National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has finally broken his silence over claims questioning his ethnic background, firmly dismissing the allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
Speaking during an interview on the popular Obinna Show, Ichung’wah addressed reports circulating online suggesting that he is not a native Kikuyu. The outspoken lawmaker used the platform to set the record straight, outlining his upbringing and family history in detail.
According to Ichung’wah, he was born and raised in Kikuyu Constituency, specifically in the area adjacent to Thigoto.
He explained that while his family, like many Kenyan families, moved across different regions over time, they eventually settled in Kikuyu where he spent most of his formative years. He emphasized that his roots and identity are firmly tied to the area.

The legislator accused his critics of spreading misinformation for political gain, arguing that such narratives are meant to distract him from his responsibilities. “Those pushing such claims are not genuine. This is pure politics meant to derail focus from real issues affecting Kenyans,” he stated.
Ichung’wah maintained that he remains committed to serving the people and will not be sidetracked by what he termed as propaganda. He urged leaders to focus on development and unity instead of engaging in divisive politics centered on identity.
The remarks come at a time when political tensions continue to rise, with leaders increasingly facing scrutiny both online and offline. Ichung’wah’s response appears aimed at quelling the speculation while reinforcing his connection to his constituents.
The video of his remarks has since sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans, with some supporting his clarification while others continue to question the timing and intent of the statement.
