Gladys Wanga Sends Firm Message to Edwin Sifuna Ahead of Homa Bay “Linda Mwananchi” Rally
Homa Bay County Governor Her Excellency Gladys Wanga has sent a direct message to Nairobi County Senator Honorable Edwin Sifuna ahead of his planned “Linda Mwananchi” rally in Homa Bay.
Speaking during the burial of the late music star Tony Ndiema, Governor Wanga addressed the impending visit by Sifuna and his team.
While acknowledging that every leader has a constitutional right to tour any part of the country, Wanga made it clear that Homa Bay County leadership has already taken a decisive political stance regarding the country’s future direction.
Wanga, a vocal and combative figure within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) who previously supported calls for Sifuna’s removal as the party’s Secretary General, declared that Homa Bay leadership is firmly aligned with President William Ruto.
She emphasized that the region has made a collective choice to support President Ruto for a second term in the 2027 general election.

According to the Governor, the decision stems from the tangible benefits and development projects the Nyanza region has received under the Kenya Kwanza administration.
She noted that it is only appropriate for local leaders and residents to stand with the President to ensure continued progress and economic advancement for the county.
The exchange highlights growing political tensions and contrasting factions within ODM, pitting leaders who favor cooperation with the national government against those rallying under opposition movements like “Linda Mwananchi”.
Wanga’s remarks serve as a clear signal that while Sifuna’s delegation is welcome to hold their rally, the local political establishment remains firmly behind President Ruto’s administration.
