Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has issued a strong warning to Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi following recent political tensions witnessed in Kisumu.
In a viral video circulating online, Owino is seen addressing congregants during a church service in Kisumu, where he directly responds to remarks previously made by Atandi.
Days earlier, Atandi had urged residents to block Owino and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna from accessing the region, alleging that their mission could destabilize support for Oburu Odinga and his allies.
However, Owino dismissed those claims, stating that the alleged attempt to bar him from Kisumu had “failed terribly.” He accused Atandi of engaging in divisive politics and cautioned him against inciting residents.
According to Owino, leaders should focus on unity and allow democratic space for differing political views.

Speaking passionately, Owino urged Atandi to concentrate on his political base and the so-called “Linda ground” faction, instead of interfering with the “Linda Mwanainchi” initiative rallies.
He emphasized that Kenyans are politically aware and capable of making independent decisions about their leadership.
“The people will decide who is best suited to lead them,” Owino stated, reinforcing his stance on democratic choice and freedom of political expression.
The remarks come amid heightened political activity in Kisumu, where rival factions have recently clashed over upcoming rallies and influence in the region.
Observers note that the exchange between the two MPs reflects broader political realignments and growing competition ahead of future elections.
Despite the tensions, Owino maintained a message of restraint, calling on leaders to avoid confrontation and respect the will of the people.
