Former President Uhuru Kenyatta once again proved why he remains one of Kenya’s most admired leaders, three years after retiring from active politics.
On December 17, 2025, Uhuru left Kenyans amused and talking after a light-hearted moment during a leadership conference, where he briefly paused his speech to describe himself in a humorous way.
Uhuru, who has continued to enjoy immense public goodwill since leaving office, reminded many of his enduring popularity witnessed at the funeral service of the late Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Raila Odinga, held at Nyayo Stadium.
On that day, his appearance and speech were met with overwhelming cheers, forcing him to pause as mourners expressed their affection, a moment that reportedly caught current leaders by surprise.

At the conference, Uhuru struck a relaxed and jovial tone, referring to himself as a “handsome middle-aged man” who is happy with life, adding with a smile that he has become “a little round” due to age. The candid and self-deprecating remarks sparked laughter across the hall and quickly became a topic of discussion on social media.
Many Kenyans praised the former president for his charm, humility, and ability to connect with ordinary citizens. Supporters noted that such moments highlight why Uhuru continues to command respect and affection, even while staying away from frontline politics.
