Kisii County Senator Richard Onyonka has broken his silence after a tense confrontation in Bondo, Siaya County, where a group of youths reportedly forced him to cut short his visit and leave the area.
In a statement released shortly after the incident, the outspoken lawmaker said he had made a brief stop at a local restaurant while en route to Kang’o KaJaramogi. According to Onyonka, the situation quickly escalated when a group he described as “goons” surrounded his vehicle and began harassing him.
“This evening, on my way to Kang’o KaJaramogi, I made a stopover in one restaurant near Bondo where I intended to have a meal.
A few minutes later, goons appeared and started harassing me, saying that I can’t eat in Luo Nyanza because I’m a Kisii and opposing William Ruto,” he stated.

Despite his pleas to be allowed to proceed peacefully, the group reportedly forced him back into his vehicle, prompting his immediate departure.
Onyonka confirmed that neither he nor members of his team were physically harmed during the confrontation. However, he raised concern over what he termed as growing political intolerance, alleging that the attackers arrived in probox vehicles and appeared organized.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the matter, even as calls mount for investigations into the incident and enhanced security for leaders traveling across different parts of the country.
