Kenyans have been left stunned after a woman emerged in a viral video claiming to be the biological mother of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga, while also sharing dramatic and previously unknown allegations about the family of the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
The video, which has circulated widely across social media platforms, has sparked intense debate, disbelief, and demands for clarification from the Odinga family and political leaders.
Notably, Raila Odinga is alive, and the claims in the video sharply contradict publicly known family history, prompting many Kenyans to treat the assertions with caution.
In the video, the woman alleges that she was married to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga as a third wife, shortly after the late Mary Juma, who is widely recognized as Raila Odinga’s mother.

She claims that during a period when Mary Juma allegedly travelled to Britain, she was left with the responsibility of caring for Jaramogi, including bathing, massaging, and attending to his personal needs.
The woman further alleges that upon Mary Juma’s return, unnamed individuals attempted to bribe her to poison Jaramogi, an act she claims she refused.
According to her account, the poison allegedly killed a rat instead, after which Mary Juma fled to Nyalenda in Kisumu County, leaving her behind with Jaramogi. She says she continued caring for him until Mary Juma later returned.
In another startling claim, the woman alleges that when Raila returned to Kenya from Germany, he sought closeness with her, but was warned by Jaramogi to keep his distance, insisting she was like a mother to him.
She further claims Raila later met Ida Odinga through her sister, after which she says she cut off any personal ties.
Online reactions have been sharply divided, with some calling the claims sensational and misleading, while others urge the Odinga family to issue an official response to put the matter to rest.
