Kasipul Constituency residents are set to head to the polls on November 27, 2025, in a highly anticipated by-election expected to attract a massive voter turnout.
The contest follows the tragic assassination of area Member of Parliament Hon. Ong’ondo Were in Nairobi, an incident that sent shockwaves across the nation and left the constituency seeking new leadership.
The race has narrowed down to two main contenders: Philip Aroko and Boyd Were, the son of the late legislator, both of whom have been crisscrossing the constituency in search of votes. The by-election has drawn intense public interest, with political leaders and party officials closely monitoring the situation.

On Tuesday, Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma issued a strongly worded statement urging calm and calling on candidates to respect the democratic process.
Kaluma accused Philip Aroko of allegedly ferrying goons into Kasipul with the intention of causing chaos during the election. He appealed for restraint, emphasizing the need for a peaceful and transparent voting process.
Here is Kaluma’s full statement:
“My brother Aroko/Magwanga: The campaigns ended on Monday 24th. The elections are tomorrow. Let us now allow the people of Kasipul to freely elect their leader. Please remove the goons you have brought from Nairobi, Kisumu, Migori camping at St. Joseph School and from your homes. The ODM officials from across Kenya will be in Kasipul to oversee the elections. Our people: please come out in large numbers and vote your leader as MP. A good number of police officers will be at the polling stations to ensure there is peace within and around the polling stations. We are unbwogable. We are strong. We are ODM.”
As voting day approaches, security has been heightened across Kasipul, with authorities assuring residents of a safe environment. All eyes now remain on the constituency as it prepares to elect its next representative under the watchful gaze of the nation.
