The Orange democratic Party has finally issued a statement on the issue of extending President William Ruto’s term.
According to the motion by Nandi county senator Cherargei, the term limits for the elected leaders should be moved from five years to seven.
Cherargei claimed that five years is not enough to Mount a serious development for the country. He went on to ask Kenyans to support the move fully. Well, ODM has issued their stand on the matter.
Though their X platform, the orange Democratic party has distanced itself from the motion. The party has stated that, their members dyoes not support the extension of elective terms.

According to them, such changes can only be implemented via a referendum. A decision that all Kenyans must take part in.
“We are opposed to any attempts to increase the Presidential term from the current five to seven years. Such amendments to the constitution MUST be approved by Kenyans through a REFERENDUM.” Posted ODM Party.
This is coming just days after Nandi county senator Cherargei received views from Kenyans on the same. He alleged that the Senate will focus on evaluation of all responses. Kenyans will know the fate of their responses on the motion soon.
