Gladys Wanga Calls for Peace, Accuses Gachagua of Plotting Violence Ahead of Homa Bay Rally
HOMA BAY, Kenya — Homa Bay County Governor Gladys Wanga has publicly accused Democratic Congress Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua of attempting to instigate political violence ahead of the scheduled Linda Mwananchi rally in Homa Bay.
Speaking during a women’s empowerment event in Nyakach, Governor Wanga claimed that goons were being mobilized from regions outside Nyanza, including Githurai and Nyeri, to cause chaos during the opposition gathering led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

According to Wanga, the alleged scheme is designed to incite disorder and unfairly shift the blame onto local ODM leadership and county authorities.
“You have sent people here to our community. Goons from Githurai and others from Nyeri and various places have been dispatched here. We are a peaceful community, and we ask you not to bring your goons over here,” Wanga declared.
The governor emphasized that her administration is not opposed to the Linda Mwananchi initiative, assuring organizers and attendees that they are welcome to hold their political activities in the county as long as peace is maintained.
“We have no issues with Linda Mwananchi. Come in peace, speak in peace, and leave in peace,” she remarked.
Governor Wanga further cautioned Gachagua against criticizing the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and repeatedly invoking her name or that of the late ODM leader Raila Odinga in political addresses.
Asserting ODM’s standing as a formidable national party, she warned against attempts to undermine local stability or divide the electorate as regional political realignments continue to build ahead of upcoming political contests.
