Simba Arati Conveys Oburu Odinga’s Apology Over Absence From President Ruto’s Nyanza Tour

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader and Siaya Senator Dr. Oburu Oginga has sent his formal apologies for missing President William Ruto’s homecoming event at the start of his five-day developmental tour of the Nyanza region.

Delivering the message on his behalf, Kisii Governor Simba Arati—who also serves as the ODM Deputy Party Leader—assured residents and party loyalists that Senator Oburu is currently in the United Kingdom undergoing routine medical checks.

Arati confirmed that the party leader is in good health and promised that Oburu would conduct a comprehensive meet-the-people tour across the region immediately upon his return.

“Nataka kuleta apologies za kiongozi wangu. Mzee, daktari Oburu Odinga. Yuko safariini kule Uingereza na atarudi. Akirudi, atakuwa kusalimiana na nyinyi hapa. Kwa hivyo nimeleta salamu zake,” Governor Arati stated while addressing the crowd.

The message of unity and reassurance comes at a time of internal friction within the opposition outfit. Just days prior, Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga launched a scathing attack on unnamed political figures within ODM, labeling them “political vultures.”

She openly questioned the financial prudence of allocating substantial party funds toward organizing elaborate jamborees in honor of the late former party leader, Raila Odinga.

Despite the growing internal debate regarding party expenditure and strategic direction, the leadership maintains that party structures remain robust. Dr. Oburu’s medical break in London is expected to wrap up soon as deputy party leaders step in to handle executive operations.
