Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga has revealed that he sought treatment at an Ayurvedic hospital in India just two months before his late brother, Raila Odinga, visited the same facility where he later died.
Speaking in an interview with Ramogi TV, Oburu shared that the hospital, which practices traditional Indian medicine, had previously helped Raila’s daughter, Rosemary Odinga, recover from serious eye problems after other specialists across several countries failed to offer a solution.
“I talked to Jakom (Raila) the night before he died,” Oburu said. “In the morning, I received news that he had collapsed after leaving the main hospital. The facility he was in focused on traditional medicine and body detoxification. It was a place he loved to rest.”

Raila, who was reportedly preparing to travel to Dubai two days later, collapsed during his morning walk and was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to the hospital. Oburu disclosed that the ODM leader had taken five laps around the facility before the incident.
Oburu added that he also visited the same Ayurvedic center earlier for rejuvenation treatment. “I was there two months ago. They detoxify and massage people well—that’s why Jakom liked it,” he said jokingly, adding that his renewed health had earned him the nickname “youth leader.”
Following Raila’s death, Oburu flew to Bondo to inform family elders, while his niece Winnie Odinga, who was by her father’s side, recounted his final moments.
