Former Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has shed light on what he terms as the “biggest fear” facing former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a recent interview, Kuria claimed that Gachagua is increasingly worried about the loyalty of leaders who may secure seats under his Democratic Change Party (DCP).
According to Kuria, the former Deputy President fears a scenario where candidates elected on the DCP ticket could later defect and align themselves with the ruling Kenya Kwanza alliance.
Gachagua has, in recent months, intensified criticism against President William Ruto and his administration, accusing it of failing to deliver on campaign promises and engaging in what he describes as political distractions.

He has also been urging voters in the Mount Kenya region to reject Ruto’s anticipated re-election bid.
However, Kuria argues that political realignments after elections are common in Kenya’s political landscape, and Gachagua’s concerns highlight underlying uncertainties within his new party.
The remarks come amid growing political activity as leaders begin positioning themselves for the 2027 polls, with shifting alliances expected to play a key role in shaping the outcome.
