The family of the late Orange Democratic Party (ODM) leader, Hon. Raila Odinga, has been thrown into deep mourning once again following the death of Beryl Achieng Odinga.
This comes barely weeks after the former Prime Minister was laid to rest at his Kang’o Ka Jaramogi home in Siaya County, leaving Kenyans shocked at the back-to-back tragedies affecting one of the country’s most prominent political families.
According to information shared by the family, Beryl had been in and out of hospital for some time as she battled an undisclosed illness. She was pronounced dead at the Nairobi Hospital, where she had been receiving specialized care.
Her passing adds to the emotional toll the Odinga family has endured since the death of Raila Odinga, who succumbed in October and was buried earlier this month.
The news of Beryl’s death has drawn an outpouring of condolences from leaders across the political divide.

Among the first to speak was Suba North Member of Parliament, Hon. Millie Mabona Odhiambo, who expressed deep sorrow over what she described as a “double tragedy” for the Odinga family.
“On my own behalf and on behalf of Suba North Constituency, I wish to offer condolences to the Oginga Odinga family for the double tragedy of losing Beryl and Baba. Losing Beryl so soon after Baba is indeed traumatic. May the Lord offer comfort and solace to you at this time of grief. Rest in peace, Beryl,” she wrote.
Kenyans have also taken to social platforms to send messages of sympathy, acknowledging the significant grief the family has endured within such a short period. Funeral arrangements are expected to be communicated by the family in the coming days.
