I Am in ODM, Period! Millie Odhiambo Rejects Factionalism and Condemns Cyberbullying of Women Leaders
SUBA NORTH, KENYA – Outspoken Suba North Member of Parliament, Honorable Millie Odhiambo, has broken her silence on the widening rift within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). Ending months of intense speculation, the lawmaker firmly rejected alignment with either the “Linda Mwananchi” or “Linda Ground” factions, declaring undivided loyalty to the mainstream ODM party.
The internal turf war has split the orange party into two distinct camps. The Linda Mwananchi outfit is spearheaded by ODM Secretary General and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna alongside Siaya Governor James Orengo.
On the opposing side, the Linda Ground faction is marshaled by veteran politician Oburu Odinga and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga.
“I Do Not Associate With Any”
Taking to social media to clarify her political position, Odhiambo emphasized that her allegiance lies strictly with the officially registered party unit under the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP).
“For those who keep asking me irrelevant questions about where I stand or sit, this is not an endorsement of any of the ODM factions or lobbies,” Odhiambo stated. “I am in ODM Period! In the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, the registration is ODM, not ODM Linda this or Linda that.”

The legislator cleverly flipped the “Linda” (protect) narrative, asserting that her sole duty of protection belongs to her electorate. She made it clear that if she is to guard anything, it will be the interests of Suba North, women, children, youth, and vulnerable populations, humorously adding, “In 2032, I will Linda Kenya.”
Rebuking Mbadi and Calling for Introspection
Odhiambo did not hold back in addressing recent controversial remarks made by National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi in Mombasa. Terming his statements as “out of turn,” she urged the former ODM chairman to heal from past political battles.
“His intention may have been otherwise, but it came out real bad,” she observed. “My brother and friend, Hon. Mbadi needs to introspect deeply and let go of any understandable past political wounds. I would urge him to try and speak less and consult behind the tent more.”
A Fierce Defense of Women in Politics
The cornerstone of Odhiambo’s address, however, was a scathing condemnation of the sexualized cyberattacks directed at political figures. She expressed immense fury over an online post attacking Mbadi by dragging his wife, Rhoda, and her reproductive history into the political mud.
Odhiambo highlighted that women leaders—including Gladys Wanga, Winnie Odinga, Ruth Odinga, Nereah Oketch, and Betty Murungi—have frequently fallen victim to vicious, gender-based slander.
- On Political Decency: “We are entitled to call him out without dragging his wife and other reproductive issues into our opinions.”
- On Weaponizing Sex: “Why must women be demonized and sexualized every time we disagree politically? Achayo kabisa! (Utterly despicable!) Let us disagree without adding sex to everything we say.”
A Call for Unity Under “Nyikwa Ramogi”
Closing her powerful statement with a call for regional cohesion, the Suba North MP implored the community to avoid self-destruction over proxy political wars.
Invoking their shared heritage, she reminded party members that they ultimately belong to one political house.
“Let us unite as Nyikwa Ramogi (children of Ramogi). Why kill each other over what is not even ours? Let us support or oppose intelligently… Odwa en Ot Achiel (Our house is one).”
