The deputy party leader of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Cleophas Malala, has strongly criticized President William Ruto for seeking to finish Rigathi Gachagua’s influence in politics.
Speaking in Kariobangi North on November 30, 2025, Malala declared that the President’s attempts to exile Gachagua had been a complete failure. “They predicted that he would be finished, but he is now more powerful than before.”
Malala denied claims that Gachagua’s removal from office and impeachment ended his political career.

Instead, he contended that Gachagua has become even more powerful. He cited that the DCP’s recent victories in by-elections are evidences. “When President Ruto pushed Gachagua out, he thought Gachagua would be finished,”
Malala said. “But one year later, Gachagua is stronger than before.”Malala challenged critics who argue that the DCP is weak, citing the party’s victory in Kariobangi North.
“Is Kariobangi North or Kisii East in Mt. Kenya?” he asked, demonstrating that the DCP is becoming more popular nationwide rather than just in one area.
Three of the five ward seats that DCP won in the most recent by-election demonstrate how rapidly the new party is expanding. At just seven months old, the victories send a clear message that DCP is emerging as a national force.
