Suna East Member of Parliament Honorable Junet Mohammed has once again thrust himself into the national political spotlight with a fresh and bold statement on the future of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), days after his public political fallout with ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.
Junet had taken a brief break from political engagements following an explosive exchange with Sifuna, who accused him of siphoning money allegedly meant for Raila Odinga’s agents during the 2022 General Election.
Speaking while attending the burial of Gakuya’s mother in Murang’a County, Sifuna claimed the funds were mishandled.
Junet, however, strongly denied the accusations, insisting that the money in question was not under his control and alleging that former President Uhuru Kenyatta handed it to a different individual.

Barely a day after holding a closed-door meeting with Siaya Senator Dr. Oburu Odinga, Junet resurfaced with a statement that has sparked fresh debate within ODM ranks and the wider political arena.
Addressing supporters, Junet declared that ODM is positioning itself to be at the centre of power in the 2027 General Election.
According to Junet, the party will either form the next government or be part of a winning coalition, ruling out any possibility of ODM remaining in opposition.
“The ODM Party will form government in 2027, or be part of the coalition that forms government. The ODM Party will not be in opposition,” Junet asserted.
His remarks are being interpreted as a strategic signal that ODM is open to new political alliances following the death of its long-time leader Raila Odinga and the ongoing internal realignments.
Political analysts say Junet’s statement could be aimed at reassuring supporters of ODM’s relevance while also sending a message to potential allies ahead of coalition negotiations.
As internal debates continue, Junet’s comments are expected to intensify discussions on ODM’s direction, unity, and leadership as the race toward 2027 gradually takes shape.
