Today on September 16, 2024. Kenyans were treated to unexpected drama from police officers. The security of High Court Judge was withdrawn for jailing the inspection general of Police Gilbert Masengeli. Few days ago, Masengeli was Jailed for six months for failing to appear in court seven times.
He was supposed to explain the missing of youths who were abducted by police officers in Kitengela. After that incident. Judge Lawrence Mugambi has been advised what to do going forward after his security was taken away.
According to lawyer Nelson Havi. Judge Lawrence Mugambi should move the files he has to Chief Justice Office. This files includes the case he is hearing of the youths who were abducted in Kitengela during protests.
“Justice Lawrence Mugambi should now be definitively tactical in dealing with the Executive and fly without perching like Eneke. He should act suo moto and refer the file to the Chief Justice to appoint 5 Judges to hear the matter of the habeas corpus for the missing 3 Kenyans.” Posted Havi.
This is coming just few hours after Chief Justice Martha Koome issued a statement on the issue calling on police to restore the security detail of Mugambi. It is not yet clear why they were taken away.
