NAIROBI, Kenya — Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has received a significant political lifeline after being officially welcomed into a new political home, just days after his turbulent exit from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
The outspoken lawmaker, who recently suffered a major blow after being stripped of his lucrative Senate docket and subsequently removed from his high-profile position as the ODM Secretary General, can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Addressing members of the public alongside Sifuna and his political allies, the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) party leader, Honorable Eugene Wamalwa, formally welcomed the Nairobi Senator into the party’s ranks.
Wamalwa stated that the political fallout within ODM was highly anticipated following the passing of the party’s long-serving leader, the late Raila Odinga.
According to the DAP-K leader, certain political factions within the orange party had been actively plotting to sideline energetic and independent-minded younger leaders like Sifuna once the veteran politician was no longer at the helm.

“We knew that some people would immediately want to throw Sifuna out of the party after Raila’s unfortunate demise,” Wamalwa told the cheering crowd.
“But their loss is our gain. Sifuna represents the future of progressive leadership, and DAP-K is proud to offer him a platform where his voice will not be silenced.”
The move marks a dramatic shift in the country’s shifting political landscape. For years, Sifuna served as one of ODM’s most fiercely loyal defenders.
However, escalating internal friction ultimately led the party’s National Executive Committee to officially sanction his ouster.
With Sifuna now firmly aligned with Eugene Wamalwa and the DAP-K brigade, political analysts predict a massive realignment ahead of upcoming electoral contests, particularly within the larger Western and Nairobi political blocks. Sifuna and his team have promised to hit the ground running under their new political banner.
