Gladys Wanga Reveals ODM Plan Starting Immediately After Pausing UDA Talks
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has unveiled a new political roadmap following the suspension of its engagement with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), signaling a shift in strategy ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking after a recent press briefing, ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga outlined the party’s immediate plans, emphasizing the need to reconnect with grassroots supporters.
This comes just days after the party, through Acting Secretary General Catherine Omanyo, accused sections of the ruling United Democratic Alliance of undermining ODM leadership and displaying disrespect during ongoing talks.
Wanga announced that the Orange Democratic Movement will kick off a nationwide youth engagement initiative, beginning with a major Youth Convention in Nairobi on April 20, 2026.

The event is expected to bring together young people from across the country to voice their opinions on the party’s direction and future.
According to Wanga, the initiative aims to provide a platform for youth to actively participate in shaping ODM’s policies and political stance. “Young people form a critical part of our support base. Their input will guide the decisions we make moving forward,” she stated.
Following the Nairobi convention, ODM leaders will embark on a tour of at least 25 counties to engage directly with supporters, strengthen party structures, and gather views on key national and political issues.
The exercise is expected to play a central role in redefining ODM’s strategy before any potential resumption of talks with UDA.
Political analysts view this move as a tactical retreat designed to consolidate internal unity and rebuild grassroots influence.
The outcome of the youth forums and county visits is likely to shape ODM’s approach as it prepares for future negotiations and the broader 2027 electoral contest.
