Gachagua Lands in Embu to Heroic Reception After Defeating Ruto Camp in Ol Kalou
EMBU, KENYA — Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua received a triumphant welcome from thousands of supporters upon arriving in Embu County, buoyed by his party’s victory over the ruling administration in the Ol Kalou by-election.
The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader arrived in the region to launch a new county party office and lead political rallies across the area. Video footage circulating online shows crowds lining the streets, cheering and chanting as Gachagua’s motorcade slowly navigated through the town center.
The atmosphere mirrored a royal homecoming, reflecting shifting political dynamics across the Mount Kenya region.
Accompanied by Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji and several senior DCP officials, Gachagua addressed enthusiastic crowds who gathered to catch a glimpse of the opposition leader.
Speaking to supporters during his tour, the former Deputy President lauded the electorate for supporting his movement despite state pressure. He described the Ol Kalou victory as a defining political statement and a turning point against government machinery.

“The people have spoken clearly. This movement is about restoring dignity, listening to the grassroots, and ensuring every voice in Mt. Kenya and across the country is heard,” Gachagua told crowds gathered outside the new party office.
MP Gitonga Mukunji echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that Embu County remains firmly anchored in the DCP’s vision for political accountability and economic development.
The opening of the Embu DCP office marks a strategic move to consolidate opposition support in Eastern Kenya as political alignments prepare for the road ahead.
Gachagua is scheduled to hold additional town hall meetings and public addresses across Embu County throughout the weekend.
