Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has broken his silence after an alleged photo of Peter Munya with President William Ruto surfaced online, sparking political debate across the country.
The image, widely circulated by individuals allied to the President, allegedly showed the former Cabinet Secretary and PNU Party leader at State House in Nairobi.
Supporters of the Kenya Kwanza administration were quick to share the photo on social media, congratulating Munya for what they termed as a “bold decision” to join the government side.
However, speaking in a video that has since gone viral, Gachagua dismissed the claims, terming them as propaganda meant to mislead Kenyans and create confusion within the opposition ranks.

The former Deputy President expressed anger over what he described as a calculated move to portray cracks within the United Opposition camp ahead of the 2027 General Election.
According to Gachagua, Munya was in Kisii County attending a United Opposition rally at the time the alleged meeting was said to have taken place.
He questioned how Munya could have traveled from Kisii to State House within the same timeframe, insisting that the claims were politically motivated.
Gachagua accused President Ruto and his allies of being desperate to prove that key opposition leaders are defecting to Kenya Kwanza. He urged Kenyans not to fall for what he termed as divisive tactics aimed at weakening the opposition movement.
The controversy has further heightened political temperatures as realignments continue to shape the country’s political landscape.
With the 2027 polls drawing closer, leaders from both sides appear keen on consolidating support, even as accusations of misinformation and propaganda dominate online platforms.
