Former Lugari Member of Parliament Honorable Cyrus Jirongo has been pronounced dead following a tragic road accident that occurred in the early hours of today.
The news of his passing has sent shockwaves across the country, with leaders and citizens alike mourning a politician widely regarded as one of the most influential figures of Kenya’s 1990s political era.

According to preliminary reports, Hon. Jirongo was traveling to his rural home in Lugari when the fatal accident occurred.

His vehicle was reportedly involved in a head-on collision with a Climax Coach bus along the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway at around 3 a.m.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but he succumbed to his injuries before he could be transferred to hospital.
Police have since launched investigations to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the crash, while traffic along the busy highway was temporarily disrupted.
