Biden Slams Trump and Allies Over Hurricane Misinformation, Calling It ‘Un-American’

President Joe Biden took aim at former President Donald Trump and his allies for spreading misinformation about the recent hurricane disaster.

Speaking at a press conference, Biden accused Trump’s camp of using falsehoods to sow confusion and fear while Americans are “scared to death” in the wake of the storm’s devastation.“It’s un-American to exploit a natural disaster for political gain,” Biden said.

“When people are trying to protect their homes and their lives, the last thing they need is lies and misinformation that make it harder for communities to recover.”

The President’s comments follow remarks made by several conservative figures, including Trump himself, alleging that federal disaster relief efforts led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were ineffective and underfunded.

Fox News host Sean Hannity added fuel to the fire by claiming that FEMA is “bankrupt and incapable of responding adequately,” a statement that was quickly debunked by a GOP fact sheet obtained by a Fox News reporter, which outlined FEMA’s available resources and ongoing response efforts.

Biden also criticized Trump supporters who wore “Auto Workers for Trump” T-shirts during a recent rally in Detroit, noting that many were not actually employed in the auto industry.

“It’s about honesty and transparency. You can’t just put on a shirt and pretend to represent a group of people when you have no connection to their struggles,” Biden asserted.

Meanwhile, another controversy erupted when Bob Woodward’s upcoming book, “War,” revealed that Trump has remained in contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin since leaving office.

During a campaign stop in Detroit, GOP vice presidential candidate JD Vance was confronted by reporters about Trump’s continued communications with Putin.

When asked if he had discussed the calls with Trump, Vance deflected, calling Woodward a “hack” and dismissing the significance of the alleged interactions. “Is there something wrong with speaking to world leaders? No,” Vance said.

“Kamala Harris’s approach has been to hide in a basement… and you know what that’s gotten us? We’re on the verge of World War III.”

Vance’s comments drew sharp criticism from Democratic leaders, who argued that Trump’s ties to Russia raise serious national security concerns.

As these controversies unfold, it remains to be seen how they will impact the already tense political landscape leading up to the 2024 presidential election.
