Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino celebrated a significant legal victory for the Linda Mwananchi Movement (LMM) following official confirmation of its name reservation by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP).
Taking to social media, the vocal lawmaker shared an official document from the registrar’s office confirming the reservation of the outfit’s name under Section 4B and Section 8 of the Political Parties Act.
Stamping the official correspondence with the word “LEGIT,” Owino described the development as a major win for the political movement and its efforts to establish a formal organizational structure ahead of upcoming political engagements.
The official communication, signed by the Registrar of Political Parties J. C. Lorionokou and dated October 1, 2026, details that the approval follows a ruling by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal in the case of Michael Caroli Omondi & Another Vs Registrar of Political Parties.
The letter confirms that the name reservation for the Linda Mwananchi Movement will remain active for a period not exceeding ninety days from the date of issuance.
The endorsement comes amid heightened political activity within opposition ranks, as key leaders look to solidify unified platforms following recent debates surrounding party ownership and electoral strategy.
Owino’s public endorsement reaffirms the movement’s focus on securing legal recognition as it seeks to mobilize grassroots support across various regions.
Political observers view the legal milestone as a crucial step toward structuring the opposition’s campaign vehicles.
With the name now officially reserved, leaders associated with the movement are expected to accelerate efforts toward party registration, coalition building, and strategy formulation as the political landscape continues to evolve.
