TRANS NZOIA, Kenya — The landscape of Kenyan politics continues to experience rapid shifts as the country edges closer to the 2027 general election.
In a stark contrast to the 2022 campaign period—where the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party enjoyed overwhelming popularity across the nation—ruling party politicians are increasingly facing hostile receptions on the ground.
The latest victim of this shifting political tide is Trans Nzoia County Woman Representative, Honorable Lillian Siyoi.
The lawmaker found herself in deep trouble in Cherengany Constituency, Trans Nzoia County, after a crowd rejected her political remarks, forcing her to prematurely end her speech.
The drama unfolded during a public function when Hon. Siyoi took to the podium and launched a scathing attack on the local Governor, George Natembeya.
Siyoi accused the governor of failing to respect the Head of State, President William Ruto, and blamed him for allegedly blocking national government development projects intended for the county.

However, her remarks did not sit well with the gathered residents. The crowd immediately turned rowdy, chanting slogans and heckling the lawmaker to express their disapproval.
According to a video capturing the incident, the situation quickly degenerated as an agitated Siyoi began trading insults with the shouting residents in a desperate attempt to restore order.
Her retaliation only fueled the fire, as the jeers grew louder, completely drowning out her voice. Overwhelmed by the hostile reception and unable to calm the crowd, the UDA legislator was forced to cut her address short and hand over the microphone.
The incident highlights growing political friction in the Western region, where Governor Natembeya’s fierce rhetoric has built him a loyal following, making direct attacks on him a highly risky gamble for pro-government politicians.
