Sifuna Finally Breaks Silence: The One Condition for His 2027 Presidential Bid
NAIROBI, Kenya — After weeks of mounting pressure and high-octane political rallies across the country, Nairobi Senator and ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has finally addressed the growing calls for him to enter the 2027 presidential race.
For the past month, the “Sifuna for President” narrative has gained significant traction. Following a series of massive “Linda Mwananchi” rallies in Kakamega, Kitengela, Mombasa, and Kisumu, political analysts and supporters alike have suggested that the firebrand legislator is ripe for the top seat.
Many see him as the most formidable youth-leaning candidate to challenge President William Ruto on the ballot.
The “Winning Formula”
Speaking during a candid interview on Tuesday, Sifuna remained strategic, neither fully committing nor dismissing the ambitions. However, he revealed the singular condition that would trigger his declaration: understanding the definitive formula for winning.

“I will only declare my interest for the top seat after I have fully understood the formula of winning an election in this country,” Sifuna stated. “It is not just about the crowds; it is about the path to victory.”
People-Centered Strategy
Sifuna emphasized that he is currently in a “listening phase,” prioritizing the concerns of the electorate over personal ambition. He noted that before making any definitive step toward the leadership of the Republic of Kenya, he intends to engage further with citizens to understand their grassroots struggles in detail.
The Senator’s remarks come at a time of perceived friction within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). While some factions lean toward a “broad-based” partnership with the current administration, Sifuna has maintained a fierce “Linda Mwananchi” (Protect the Citizen) stance, positioning himself as a defender of the common man.
As the 2027 general election draws closer, all eyes remain on the Senator to see if his “formula” will eventually lead him to the State House race.
