Kindiki Rebukes CS Ruku Over Divisive Mt. Kenya Remarks
EMBU, KENYA — Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has fiercely condemned Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku following weeks of escalating, ethnically charged remarks aimed at fracturing the greater Mount Kenya region.
The political storm erupted after CS Ruku and a section of politicians relentlessly lobbied for a “political divorce” between Mount Kenya East and West.
Ruku argued that Embu, Meru, and Tharaka Nithi counties should completely separate themselves from Central Kenya discussions, claiming the eastern region has historically been sidelined by their western neighbors.
However, speaking during a church service at the ACK Diocese of Embu, a seemingly angry Deputy President fired heavy salvos at the Cabinet Secretary. DP Kindiki strongly warned leaders against using holy sanctuaries as platforms to launch toxic and reckless political rhetoric that threatens the fabric of national peace.

“As leaders under the leadership of President William Ruto, we have agreed that we will not use the altar to do foolish things, deliver confusing messages, destroy communities, or divide people,” Kindiki stated firmly.
Positioning himself as the region’s unifying figure, Kindiki dismissed the ongoing political balkanization, stating that those attempting to split the populous voting bloc should “relax”. He declared that the administration would be judged strictly by its development footprint rather than regional noise.
Furthermore, the Deputy President issued a direct challenge to the clergy, urging bishops and religious leaders across the nation to guard their pulpits against toxic politics.
He stressed that the church must remain vigilant and never allow politicians to exploit sacred altars to propagate dangerous, divisive agendas.
