Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has intensified his political messaging in the Western region, issuing a strong warning to women and voters ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a public address in Trans Nzoia County, Natembeya cautioned residents against what he described as deceptive empowerment tactics by politicians seeking votes through short-term handouts.
In remarks captured on video that have since circulated widely online, the governor accused some senior political figures of acting as “political brokers” who, he said, have exploited the Western region for decades for personal gain.
Without mincing his words, Natembeya singled out leaders aligned to the Kenya Kwanza administration, claiming they were misleading wananchi with token financial inducements disguised as empowerment programs.

According to Natembeya, women are often the primary targets during election periods, with politicians moving around villages distributing small amounts of money while promising life-changing opportunities.
He argued that such initiatives leave communities worse off, noting that after the money is shared, individuals walk home with as little as twenty or one hundred shillings—amounts he said are meaningless in the current harsh economic climate.
“The same people come every election cycle, give you small money, and disappear after winning power,” Natembeya told the crowd. “That is not empowerment. That is deception.”
The governor further criticized President William Ruto’s administration, accusing it of taking advantage of what he termed the gullibility and desperation of Kenyans struggling with the high cost of living.
He urged voters to reject cash handouts and instead scrutinize leaders based on their track records, policies, and commitment to long-term development.
Natembeya called on the people of the Western region to remain vigilant, listen carefully to political messages, and make informed decisions at the ballot.
He emphasized that the 2027 elections would be critical in determining whether the region continues with what he described as recycled leadership or embraces a new political direction focused on genuine economic empowerment and accountability.
