Trans Nzoia County Governor, His Excellency George Natembeya, was on Monday received with pomp and jubilation in Malava Constituency, Kakamega County, as he arrived to drum up support for Seth Panyako.
Panyako is vying to succeed the late Malulu Injendi, who passed away a few months ago, leaving the parliamentary seat vacant.
According to a video widely circulated online, Governor Natembeya, accompanied by Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, was met by a sea of jubilant residents who lined the streets to welcome the two leaders. The crowd’s excitement and chants of unity painted a vivid picture of the growing political momentum in the region.
Addressing the enthusiastic gathering, Governor Natembeya called upon the people of Malava to rally behind Seth Panyako, describing him as a visionary leader capable of continuing the late Injendi’s development agenda. Natembeya emphasized the importance of regional unity, urging residents to reject political outsiders whom he accused of sowing seeds of division within the Luhya community.

“Let us stand with our own. Malava does not need intruders who come to divide us. If we are united, the Luhya people will be respected and will have a stronger voice in national politics,” Natembeya declared, drawing cheers from the crowd.
He further stressed that unity among the Luhya people was essential as the country heads toward the 2027 General Election. According to him, only through collective effort and solidarity can the community realize meaningful development and political recognition.
Senator Boni Khalwale, who also addressed the gathering, echoed Natembeya’s sentiments, noting that Malava has historically played a significant role in shaping the political direction of the Western region. He called on residents to turn up in large numbers and vote wisely in the upcoming by-election.
The late Malulu Injendi, who represented Malava Constituency, was remembered fondly during the event for his dedication to uplifting the welfare of his constituents. His passing created a vacuum that has now set the stage for a hotly contested race.
As campaigns gather momentum, Natembeya’s spirited endorsement of Seth Panyako is seen as a major boost to Panyako’s candidacy, underscoring the growing influence of Trans Nzoia’s governor in Western Kenya’s political landscape.
