The Deputy President toured the site, engaging engineers, contractors, and local leaders in discussions focused on timelines, quality assurance, and the socio-economic impact of the project.

The Maili Tatu initiative forms part of the broader Affordable Housing Programme spearheaded by the administration of William Ruto, which aims to address Kenya’s growing housing deficit while simultaneously creating employment opportunities.

During the inspection, Kindiki emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that the project is completed within schedule and meets the expected standards.

“This project is not just about putting up buildings; it is about restoring dignity, creating jobs, and improving livelihoods,” Kindiki said, underscoring the transformative potential of the initiative.

Local residents and leaders expressed optimism, noting that the development is expected to stimulate economic activity in Saboti and the larger Trans Nzoia region.

Small businesses, suppliers, and casual laborers have already begun to benefit from the project, reflecting the government’s strategy of integrating economic empowerment into infrastructure development.

Engineers on site briefed the Deputy President on the progress made so far, highlighting key milestones achieved and outlining the next phases of construction.

They assured him that despite minor logistical challenges, the project remains on track.

Kindiki also took time to interact with workers, acknowledging their role in driving the project forward and encouraging them to maintain high standards of workmanship.

He reiterated that the government will continue to support such initiatives across the country to ensure equitable development.

The Maili Tatu Affordable Housing Project is one of several similar developments being rolled out nationwide, signaling a shift toward large-scale, government backed housing solutions.

As construction continues, the project stands as a symbol of the administration’s vision to provide accessible and affordable housing while catalyzing local economies.

With momentum building and expectations high, all eyes now remain on the delivery timelines and the lasting impact this project will have on the people of Saboti and beyond.
