Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya has finally broken his silence following claims that former Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha is poised to defeat him in the 2027 general election.
The remarks come months after Nakhumicha publicly declared her intention to vie for the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat, insisting she is ready to “send Natembeya and his entire team home” over what she described as failure to effectively work with the national government for the benefit of residents.
However, speaking during a public event in a video that has since circulated widely online, Natembeya dismissed the assertions as politically motivated and detached from the reality on the ground.
The governor maintained that his administration’s development record speaks for itself and continues to enjoy broad support among residents of Trans Nzoia County.

Natembeya further downplayed the combined political strength of his perceived rivals, naming Chris Wamalwa and Kakai Bisau among those he believes will not sway voters against him.
According to the governor, the leaders have held influential positions for years without delivering tangible benefits to the people and therefore lack the moral authority to challenge his leadership now.
“The people can see and feel the impact of the projects we have initiated,” Natembeya said, arguing that ongoing infrastructure, health, and social development programmes have transformed livelihoods across the county.
He added that leadership should be judged on performance rather than political rhetoric, insisting that attempts to discredit his administration would not change the mindset of residents who are already enjoying the fruits of development.
As the 2027 race gradually takes shape, Trans Nzoia appears set for an intense political contest, with early exchanges signaling a battle that will likely revolve around development records, cooperation with national government, and voter trust.
