Orange Democratic Party (ODM) Secretary General Senator Edwin Sifuna has finally spoken out on what the late ODM leader, Honorable Raila Odinga, allegedly told him about President William Ruto’s 2027 re-election prospects before his death.
Sifuna’s remarks have reignited political debate across the country, especially following recent claims by Raila’s adopted son, Oketch Sella.
Speaking during a funeral ceremony in Murang’a County for the late Mrs. Gakuya, the mother of Embakasi North Member of Parliament James Gakuya, Sifuna addressed the growing speculation surrounding his relationship with Raila Odinga.
This comes weeks after Oketch Sella alleged that Raila had privately described Sifuna as a “mole” working for former President Uhuru Kenyatta within the ODM party.
Sella further claimed that Raila deliberately kept Sifuna close as part of a broader political strategy.

Responding to these claims, Sifuna told mourners that since many people were publicly revealing what Raila allegedly told them before his death, he too felt compelled to share his own account.
According to the Nairobi Senator, Raila confided in him during their private discussions that President William Ruto would only serve one term and would not be re-elected in 2027.
The statement, captured on video and widely shared online, has sparked fresh political reactions, with many Kenyans interpreting it as a bold declaration of opposition politics ahead of the next general election.
Sifuna also defended his decision to attend the Murang’a funeral, despite criticism from sections of his party. He explained that as a Nairobi Senator with ambitions of retaining his seat, he must appeal to voters from all communities.
Nairobi, he said, is a cosmopolitan city whose electorate includes Luhyas, Kambas, Kikuyus, Luos, and many other communities.
“I am obligated to mingle with everyone,” Sifuna stated, insisting that inclusive politics, not isolation, is the key to electoral success in the capital city.
