Kakamega County Senator Boni Khalwale has sparked widespread reactions after a video surfaced showing him dancing and celebrating at a public event, just hours after he was relieved of his duties as the Senate Majority Whip.
The video, which has been circulating widely on social media, captured Khalwale energetically joining in traditional dances, appearing unbothered by the political setback that had dominated headlines earlier in the day.
His dismissal was confirmed in a letter submitted to Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, indicating that Khalwale had been removed from the powerful whip position for allegedly campaigning for the opposition candidate during the Malava Constituency by-election.
The move was seen by many as a disciplinary action within the ruling coalition, with political analysts describing it as a sign of intensified internal enforcement of party loyalty.

However, the senator’s reaction has surprised many Kenyans. Rather than appearing shaken or disappointed, Khalwale brushed off the decision, terming it “normal politics” and urging his supporters not to perceive the move as a major blow. Speaking shortly after the video went viral, he maintained that his commitment to the Mulembe Nation remains intact.
Khalwale stated that he will continue championing unity within the Western Kenya community, reiterating his political partnership with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.
He emphasized that his focus remains on strengthening regional leadership rather than holding positions in Parliament.
Many Kenyans online expressed amusement and shock at his celebratory demeanor, with some praising his resilience while others questioned whether his reaction was genuine or a political strategy. Nevertheless, the senator’s quick shift from national political turbulence to jubilant celebration has continued to fuel debate across social media platforms.
