Trans Nzoia County Governor His Excellency George Natembeya could be heading into a fierce political battle as fresh details emerge on what President William Ruto’s allies are allegedly planning against him ahead of the 2027 general election.
Natembeya has in recent months positioned himself as a key figure in the push to unite the Western Kenya voting bloc through his TAWE Movement.
He has been vocal in urging residents of the region to abandon Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, accusing them of prioritizing personal political survival over meaningful development for the community.
However, the governor has now been put on notice. Speaking during a public function in Kakamega County, Deputy Governor Ayub Savula, who recently defected from DAP-Kenya to the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), launched a scathing attack on Natembeya and his TAWE Movement.

In remarks captured on video and now circulating online, Savula dismissed TAWE as a short-lived political outfit with no future.
Savula claimed that there is a deliberate and well-coordinated plan by UDA and President Ruto’s allies to completely “deflate” the TAWE Movement long before the 2027 polls.
He insisted that Natembeya’s attempts to position himself as the voice of Western Kenya would not succeed, adding that the region will be firmly rallied behind President Ruto rather than joining any opposition political formation.
The Kakamega deputy governor further vowed to work closely with UDA leaders to consolidate support for the Kenya Kwanza administration across Western Kenya, arguing that alignment with the government is the only sure way to unlock development for the region.
Savula’s remarks signal intensifying political temperatures in Western Kenya, setting the stage for a high-stakes showdown between Natembeya’s growing influence and President Ruto’s camp as the 2027 election draws closer.
