Uhuru Issues Statement After Fire Killed 17 Pupils In Nyeri County

Today on August 6, 2024 From Nyeri. The country woke up to a tragic news of over 16 boys burnt to death in a dormitory fire. According to government officials on the ground, Hillside Endarasha school dorm went up in flames killing many.

The cause of fire is not yet established by the time we were writing this. It was confirmed by Belio Kopsang that the dormitory hosted 156 boys by the time of inferno. 17 passed away while 14 are receiving treatment in various hospitals around Nyeri county.

Several leaders have issued statements on the fire incident. Education cabinet Secretary is allegedly on the way from China where he was attending a meeting with Ruto. He is expected to join hands with his interior counterpart to establish the cause of such tragedy.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has also sent his condolences message to the family and those affected. He has wished those in hospital a quick recovery as they receive treatment.

“The loss of young lives, full of potential and hope for the future, is a pain that cannot be fully described. My heart goes out to the families who lost their children and the school community deeply affected by this tragedy of unimaginable magnitude. May God give you the strength, comfort, and peace you need as you cope with this loss,” said Mr. Kenyatta.
