On January 4, 2025, President William Ruto hosted Trans Nzoia County MCAs at the Eldoret State Lounge in a consultative meeting focused on development priorities in the county. The meeting was also attended by Kiminini Member of Parliament Hon. Kakai Bisau and Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang
Focus of the Eldoret Meeting
According to leaders present, the talks centered on key issues affecting Trans Nzoia residents, including road infrastructure, healthcare facilities, and sports development. However, shortly after the meeting, claims emerged that the impeachment of Governor George Natembeya was discussed, sparking political tension in the county.
Sikhendu MCA Responds to Impeachment Claims
Speaking during a funeral service in Sikhendu Ward, MCA Hon. Kutitila strongly denied the impeachment allegations. He accused some leaders of spreading misinformation and diverting the meeting’s agenda from development matters to political attacks against Governor Natembeya.
“Jana tuliambia President watu wa fitina ndio hawa,” Kutitila said, accusing unnamed leaders of attempting to paint the MCAs as plotting against the governor.
Hon. Kutitila clarified that the MCAs informed President Ruto that they had no intention of impeaching Governor Natembeya despite his continued criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Call for Equal Development in Trans Nzoia
The MCA emphasized that Trans Nzoia County deserves equal development from the national government, regardless of political differences. He stated that residents are demanding better roads, modern hospitals, and a fully equipped stadium, similar to projects implemented in other regions.
He urged leaders to avoid political propaganda and instead prioritize unity and service delivery for the people of Trans Nzoia.
