Orange Democratic Party (ODM) Secretary General Senator Edwin Sifuna has finally broken his silence amid growing calls for his removal from the party’s top leadership following the death of longtime ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The calls have intensified in recent weeks as internal divisions continue to surface within the party, which later joined the government under the broad-based arrangement.
Speaking on the matter, Sifuna dismissed the claims and made it clear that no individual or faction has the authority to push him out of ODM.
According to the outspoken senator, his position is protected by the party’s constitution, and any attempt to remove him must strictly follow laid-down procedures.

Sifuna’s remarks have sparked widespread debate among political observers and ODM supporters. Some are questioning whether the Nairobi Senator wields significant influence within the party or enjoys protection from powerful figures beyond the ODM National Delegates Convention (NDC), which is the party’s highest decision-making organ.
The developments come at a time when ODM is still adjusting to life after Raila Odinga, a period marked by leadership struggles and ideological differences over the party’s future direction.
While Sifuna remains defiant, Kenyans are keenly watching to see whether the ODM leadership will formally respond to his remarks or take decisive action against him in the coming days.
