For over two decades, Raila Odinga has maintained his grasp on Kenyan politics through Orange Democratic Party. He has been deeply involved in the running of the party daily activities, holding meetings and making sure that things runs smoothly.
Well, it seems like end of an era for now. In their meeting today October 12, 2024. ODM Party has announced a new Party leader.
Speaking in Mombasa after National Executive Meeting. Odinga appointed Kisumu county governor Anyang’ Nyongo as the acting party leader. From today henceforth he will be running the party affairs while Odinga is running campaigns.

In the same meeting, the position of Gladys Wanga as party national Chair was ratified together with three deputy party leaders. Vihiga Senator Osotsi, Kisii governor Arati and Mombasa governor are now official deputies in ODM.
“While he (@RailaOdinga) will be away on the campaign trail for the Chairmanship of the AUC, the founding SG of the party @AnyangNyongo will lead the party in the Acting Capacity #TukoTayari” Wrote ODM Party.
Raila Focus On AU Position.
Raila Odinga will now officially focus on his African Union Candidature after relinquishing his Party position. He will now tour different countries seeking their support in next year election. If he manages to capture the seat, the focus will shift from Kenyan politics to Ethiopia. He will now be in charge of all countries within African continent.
Few days ago, he unveiled a website that is expected to link him to all other leaders across Africa. His biography and achievements are listed there as a way of opening up to everyone.
