After the passing of the late Orange democratic Party leader Honorable Raila Odinga. The party which he cherished most was left with some divisions among leaders.
There are those who are claiming the President will be supported by the party willingly in the 2027 general election.
A section of others are calling on leaders to be calm and first make sure the party is strong before singing two terms.
Well, speaking during the interview with a local station. Dr. Oburu Odinga made it clear what would happen if President William Ruto decided to join the ODM party.

According to Oburu Odinga, the president of the republic of Kenya His Excellency William Ruto will have to be subjected to the party process of getting a presidential candidate. He will have to face off with others who will be going for the same position and if he wins, then, he will be granted an opportunity to fly the ODM flag in the election.
Currently, we don’t have a presidential candidate. But that does not mean we will not have one in the coming general election. We did not say that we will support President William Ruto. What we said is that we will he in government in the 2027 general election. If Ruto decides to run on ODM party ticket. Then, we will go for nominations within the party. If he wins, he gets the ticket and follow our rules. ” Said Oburu Odinga.
