Kibwezi West Member of Parliament Hon. Mwengi Mutuse has dismissed reports circulating online alleging that a vehicle seen engulfed in flames belongs to him.
The dramatic photo, which spread rapidly across social media platforms, triggered widespread speculation, with some users claiming the vehicle had “set itself on fire,” leaving many Kenyans puzzled.
However, Mutuse has firmly refuted the allegations, terming the reports as fake news engineered by political adversaries determined to tarnish his reputation. In a statement shared on his official platforms, the legislator clarified that he has no association whatsoever with the burning vehicle, adding that the claims were part of a calculated propaganda campaign.

According to Mutuse, the resurfacing of such misleading information is no coincidence, especially in light of his recent political prominence. The MP rose to national attention after successfully filing an impeachment motion against former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In the motion, Mutuse accused Gachagua of tribalism and undermining the authority of the Head of State—allegations that fueled intense political debate across the country.
Mutuse noted that the fake reports about the burning car are an attempt by his critics to depict him negatively and sow doubt among his supporters. He urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and avoid falling for sensationalized content intended to mislead the public.
The MP further stated that he remains focused on serving the people of Kibwezi West and championing accountability in leadership, dismissing the latest controversy as a distraction. As investigations into the origin of the viral photo continue, Mutuse maintained that he will not be deterred by political propaganda or attempts to derail his agenda.
