Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has issued a stern warning to opposition presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, cautioning him against violating the Electoral Commission’s regulations and national security protocols.
Speaking during a military function in Kampala on Friday, Gen. Muhoozi emphasized that the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) would not allow any acts of indiscipline or unrest disguised as political activity.
“The security of our country will not be compromised. Those who think they can destabilize Uganda in the name of elections are mistaken. This indiscipline must stop,” he warned.
Bobi Wine, who is seeking to unseat long-serving President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has intensified his campaigns across the country. His rallies, largely attended by youth supporters, have been marred by frequent clashes with security forces.

Several of his campaigners have reportedly been arrested, with authorities accusing them of inciting violence and defying public order guidelines.
President Museveni, in power since 1986, is seeking another term, insisting that he has ongoing national projects he must complete before retiring.
However, Bobi Wine argues that Uganda needs a “fresh start,” promising to restore democracy, fight corruption, and empower the youth.
The latest warning from Gen. Muhoozi — who is also Museveni’s son — is likely to heighten political tensions as the nation heads toward the 2026 general elections. Observers note that the growing standoff between the military and opposition could shape the tone of Uganda’s most contested poll in decades.
