More Trouble For Ruto As Court Issues New Directive On Adani JKIA Leasing

The leasing if Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Adani group has sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans. Through various socials, Kenyans have been asking Ruto administration to stop the lease and instead focus on reviving it themselves.

Last week, workers at the airport staged protests demanding that the deal be halted immediately. Their argument was that the lease will lead to loss of jobs during this tough economic times.

High Court Decision.

The high court has dealt Ruto and his administration a blow. This is after it’s rulling on leasing of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

According to the presiding Judge. The leasing is blocked until the case filled by law society of Kenya and human rights organization is determined.

This is a setback since the government has been determined to see the deal through. Despite the public outcry on the details of the deal being kept secret. Their call for transparency was never considered by any government officials.

The Adani Deal.

The Adani group are planning to takeover all airports in the country for the next 30 years. Their plan is to renovate the airport and build new tunnels by the end of 30 years leasing.

Then, they are supposed to have a lifetime share of the airport at 18%. The deal has sparked mixed reactions with Kenyans demanding its halting.

Some lawmakers are asking the government to stop the leasing process and listen to Kenyans grievances. They are asking for full disclosure of the details with the public before any decision is made.

Government Position

Ruto’s administration has maintained that the deal is for the good of the country and future. They have maintained that, with the lease, Jomo Kenyatta International airport will be upgraded accordingly.

The airport will be to the standards of international market hence more revenue in future. Something that the general public is against it in totality.
