Tensions continue to rise in the Malava Constituency by-election after United Opposition candidate Seth Panyako issued yet another emotional appeal to his supporters, alleging fresh irregularities unfolding in West Kabras.
The remarks come barely hours after Panyako broke down in tears at a police station, claiming that his driver and gateman had been attacked by unidentified individuals he described as “goons determined to end his life.”
In a new video circulating widely online, Panyako alleges that Kakamega Governor Ferdinand Barasa is involved in plans to interfere with the electoral process. He claims—without providing evidence—that there are attempts to “stuff ballot boxes” in favour of his opponent, Ndakwa, in West Kabras.
Panyako urged his supporters to move swiftly to the area, insisting that their presence is necessary to “protect the vote” and ensure transparency during the tallying process.

His latest statement has sparked intense debate online, with some supporters expressing solidarity while others have cautioned against spreading unverified claims that could heighten tensions.
Local authorities and election officials have not issued any public confirmation or comment regarding the allegations. Security agencies have, however, maintained a visible presence across various polling centers in the constituency following multiple reports of confrontations and heightened political emotions.
The by-election in Malava has been characterized by a highly charged atmosphere, with candidates trading accusations of interference and voter manipulation throughout the day.
Observers have urged all political actors to exercise restraint and allow the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to carry out its mandate without intimidation.
As counting continues, residents have been called upon to remain calm as authorities work to maintain order and verify results from different polling centers across Malava Constituency.
