Kakamega County Governor and Orange Democratic Party (ODM) Kakamega County chapter chairperson, Fernandes Barasa, has confirmed that the county is fully prepared to host top ODM party leadership for a key county delegates meeting scheduled for Sunday, January 18, 2026.
Speaking ahead of the event, Dr. Barasa stated that all arrangements have been finalized for the meeting, which will take place at the Golf Hotel in Kakamega.
The delegates’ forum will be graced by the party’s national leadership, led by ODM Chairperson Dr. Oburu Odinga. Following the closed-door delegates’ meeting, ODM leaders are expected to address residents during a mega rally in Kakamega town.
“We shall have the delegates meeting at the hotel and then proceed to Kakamega town for a mega rally,” Barasa said, adding that the gathering is part of the party’s ongoing grassroots engagement and internal strengthening.

The development comes just a day after Governor Barasa publicly called on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and ODM leadership to agree on zoning of political positions in the anticipated coalition.
He noted that such an arrangement would help prevent unnecessary political confrontation between the two parties ahead of the next general election.
Barasa emphasized that dialogue and structured cooperation between ODM and UDA would promote stability and unity, particularly in regions where both parties enjoy significant support.
