Dodoma, Tanzania — Tanzania’s President-elect Samia Suluhu Hassan has officially received her winner’s certificate from Jacobs Mwambegele, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in a ceremony held in Dodoma on Saturday.
The event marks the formal conclusion of the country’s presidential election, affirming Samia Suluhu’s victory and paving the way for her swearing-in as Tanzania’s next head of state.
The ceremony, attended by top government officials, diplomats, and party supporters, was held at the INEC headquarters amid tight security and a festive atmosphere.
In her acceptance speech, Suluhu expressed gratitude to the Tanzanian people for their confidence in her leadership, pledging to serve all citizens regardless of political affiliation.
“This victory belongs to every Tanzanian. Together, we shall continue to build a nation rooted in peace, unity, and development,” she said.

Jacobs Mwambegele, while handing over the certificate, congratulated Suluhu and commended Tanzanians for maintaining peace throughout the electoral process. He also urged political leaders to respect the democratic outcome and work together for national progress.
“This certificate represents the people’s will as expressed through the ballot. It is our hope that this new administration will uphold the values of democracy and inclusivity,” Mwambegele remarked.
Suluhu’s win cements her place in history as Tanzania’s first female president to be elected through a national vote, following her previous assumption of office in 2021 after the death of the late President John Pombe Magufuli. Her campaign focused on economic growth, women’s empowerment, and strengthening regional cooperation.
She is expected to be sworn in next week in a state ceremony at the Jamhuri Stadium, officially beginning her new term as Tanzania’s Head of State and Commander-in-Chief.
