Orange Democratic Party (ODM) National Chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga on Thursday found herself caught in chaotic scenes in Ugunja, Siaya County, where she had toured to observe the ongoing by-election.
The incident, captured in a video circulating widely on social media, shows tensions escalating as a group of rowdy individuals confronted the governor moments after her arrival.
According to the footage, Wanga attempted to calm the growing commotion, repeatedly urging the group not to resort to violence. Despite her efforts, the pleas appeared to fall on deaf ears as the irate crowd grew louder and more aggressive.
Security personnel and local leaders accompanying her struggled to restore order as the situation quickly spiraled.
In another disturbing segment of the video, an agitated resident is seen bleeding from what he claimed was an injury inflicted by one of the individuals said to have been in Wanga’s entourage.
