Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has sounded the alarm over alleged intimidation and violence in Narok Town just a day before the highly anticipated by-election.
Taking to his social media platforms, Gachagua accused state authorities of deploying armed police officers and state-sponsored militias to disrupt the operations of the DCP party candidate, Hon. Douglas Masikonde.
According to Gachagua, the group stormed Masikonde’s home while party agents were undergoing training in preparation for the polls.
“Throwing caution to the wind, heavily armed police officers and state-sponsored militia have stormed the home of our DCP candidate, Hon. Douglas Masikonde, in Narok Town and violently attacked him and his agents, who were undergoing training,” Gachagua said.
The former deputy president went on to accuse the current regime of losing its moral compass and attempting to manipulate the election. “It is now clear that plans to stuff ballot papers are complete and our agents are being intimidated to subvert the sovereign will of the people,” he added.

Gachagua further urged the people of Narok Town to remain steadfast despite the challenges, framing the incident as an attempt to deny citizens their constitutional right to freely elect their preferred candidate.
“This is an attempt to deny the people of Narok Town their constitutional right to elect a candidate of their choice and to force the UDA candidate upon them. I appeal to the people of Narok Town to stay calm and turn out to vote despite the many hurdles being placed in their way,” he stated.
The allegations, if verified, could escalate tensions ahead of the by-election, which has already attracted significant attention due to the political stakes involved.
Observers are closely monitoring the situation, emphasizing the need for calm, fairness, and transparency in the electoral process.
Authorities in Narok Town have not yet responded to Gachagua’s claims.
