Chelsea FC have parted ways with head coach Liam Rosenior after less than four months in charge, following a disappointing run of results that culminated in a heavy defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.
The decision was confirmed in an official club statement on Tuesday, shortly after Chelsea’s 3-0 loss at the Amex Stadium. Goals from Brighton players sealed a convincing win, leaving the Blues struggling to keep pace in the Premier League standings.
In the statement, Chelsea expressed gratitude to Rosenior and his staff for their professionalism and commitment during a turbulent period. However, the club acknowledged that recent performances had fallen short of expectations, prompting the difficult decision to make a managerial change with the season still ongoing.
Chelsea have now slipped to seventh place, trailing Liverpool FC by seven points in the race for Champions League qualification. Liverpool, who occupy the final qualifying spot, also have a game in hand, further complicating Chelsea’s ambitions.

Interim leadership will now be taken up by Calum McFarlane, who is tasked with stabilizing the squad as they prepare for a crucial FA Cup semi-final clash against Leeds United at Wembley Stadium this weekend.
Rosenior’s tenure saw mixed results, recording 11 wins, two draws, and 10 defeats in 23 matches. His dismissal follows a worrying run of five consecutive league losses without scoring, raising concerns about both attacking output and overall team cohesion.
The move comes despite recent remarks from Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali, who had emphasized the club’s desire for managerial stability. The latest change highlights ongoing challenges within the club’s leadership structure as they seek long-term consistency.
