Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed has broken his silence following accusations by Nairobi Senator and ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, who alleged that Junet was responsible for the absence and non-payment of coalition agents during the 2022 General Election.
In a detailed press statement, Junet turned the spotlight on former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his brother, Muhoho Kenyatta, claiming they were in control of the funds intended for ODM agents but failed to deploy or pay them.
Junet explained that the funds released by Uhuru Kenyatta were handed over to Muhoho, who then appointed a man named Peter Mburu to oversee recruitment and payment of the agents.
According to Junet, Mburu, who presented himself as an IT expert, promised to safeguard votes from manipulation by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) but ultimately failed to deliver agents on the ground.
“To date, Mr. Mburu remains an aide of Uhuru Kenyatta,” Junet stated, noting Mburu recently traveled to Nigeria alongside Kenyatta and Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, demonstrating his ongoing closeness to the former president.

Junet further alleged that operations were managed from a highly restricted office in Westlands, Nairobi, inaccessible even to Raila Odinga, ODM’s presidential candidate at the time.
Challenging all named parties—including Uhuru Kenyatta, Muhoho Kenyatta, and Peter Mburu—to publicly deny the allegations, Junet insisted that no agents were eventually deployed in key regions such as Mt. Kenya and Nyanza.
He also defended his loyalty to the late Raila Odinga, arguing that his appointment as Leader of Minority in the National Assembly was proof of the trust Raila had in him.
Junet concluded by calling on Senator Sifuna and others to clarify the handling of ODM agents’ funds, stressing that Kenyans deserved transparency on who was responsible for the alleged mismanagement that affected the coalition’s 2022 election performance.
By the time of publication, neither Uhuru Kenyatta, Muhoho Kenyatta, Peter Mburu, nor Senator Sifuna had responded to the claims.
