President William Ruto has received encouraging political news ahead of the 2027 General Election after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) made far-reaching resolutions during a crucial Central Committee meeting held at Vipingo Beach, Kilifi County.
The meeting was chaired by ODM party leader Hon. Dr. Oburu Odinga and attended by top party officials, including National Chairperson and Homa Bay Governor H.E. Gladys Wanga, Kisii Governor H.E. Simba Arati, and other senior leaders.
The committee reviewed the party’s political, organisational, and strategic position following the end of Raila Odinga’s era.
According to an official statement issued by the ODM Central Committee, the party resolved to initiate structured pre-election negotiations with other political formations, starting with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and allied parties.
The committee formally mandated the party leadership to commence the talks immediately, while parallel consultations with ODM members across the country will be conducted ahead of a National Delegates Convention.

This decision is widely viewed as good news for President Ruto, as it signals ODM’s openness to dialogue, coalition politics, and possible cooperation ahead of the 2027 polls—a move that could ease political tensions and reshape Kenya’s political landscape.
The committee also reviewed the implementation of ODM’s 10-point agenda, with special focus on the unresolved compensation of victims of public protests.
ODM resolved that any compensation process should be handled through constitutionally recognised institutions, specifically the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), after courts declared a proposed compensation panel unlawful.

Additionally, the Central Committee confirmed that ODM remains fully compliant with the Political Parties Act.
The party was commended by the Auditor-General and the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties for maintaining clean books for the twentieth consecutive year.
The meeting further resolved to fast-track early preparations for the 2027 General Election, including policy development, organisational readiness, coalition building, and candidate preparedness—moves that could ultimately benefit President Ruto politically.
